Orders received

Captain RoBobby McMillan walked across the Gibraltar Bridge with a PADD in his hand. The Bridge was empty. Deserted. The Gibraltar was still undergoing refits. There had been some problems: the new bussard collectors, which had to have been placed last tuesday, still hadn't arrived. Something about engine trouble of the ship which was scheduled to deliver them.

The Captain sat down in his chair, and let out a soft sigh. He had walked the corridors of the Gibraltar many times already now. He knew the ship inside and out. He had assisted on the refits, he had entered nearly every room on the ship... he had made it a priority to crawl through all the Jeffries Tubes, see which lead where. The refit crew -some of whom were going to be transferred to the Gibraltar when all of this was over- would often see Captain McMillan exit one Jeffries Tube, and enter another.

But now the Gibraltar Captain sat in his chair, reading the PADD for the fifth time. Orders. The Gibraltar had received its orders from Starfleet Command. As soon as the refits were complete and the crew on board, the Gibraltar had to move out into what used to be the Romulan Neutral Zone. A dangerous area in the past, and even more so now. Their mission: part exploration, part showing Starfleet's presence. And part humanitarian. The Romulan Empire had fallen, which had not been an improvement for the Romulan citisens. Their lives often took a turn for the worst, with various Romulan 'factions' resulting to piracy. It was Starfleet's hope that the Gibraltar would be able to do something about this situation, and restore peace in that part of the quadrant.

Captain McMillan smiled faintly. Starfleet always set high goals. Well, no matter. "So do I." he muttered, as he put the information storage device away. He then looked at the console next to him. "We should be ready in half a month." He told himself. "And then..." He left the sentence unfinished, but smiled again.

This, he realised, was going to be a challenge. For himself, for the Gibraltar, and for the crew.

((Bare in mind! The USS Gibraltar launches 30th of July, 11 AM SLT! More information will of course be given to you before then. Stand ready! :D))
